About Ikon

Inhabiting a space on the outer edges of religious life, we are a Belfast-based collective who offer anarchic experiments in transformance art. Challenging the distinction between theist and atheist, faith and no faith our main gathering employs a cocktail of live music, visual imagery, soundscapes, theatre, ritual and reflection in an attempt to open up the possibility of a theodramatic event.

We are contactable at the following address: ikonbelfast@gmail.com

We also have a Facebook group which you can find here

And you can follow us on Twitter here

Good day. I’m a theology student at the university of pretoria (South-Africa) and I have recently been exposed to the fantastic works of Caputo and Rollins. I’ve been completely inspired by Ikon and I would like to either start something similar in my area or become part of such a movement. Is there any restrictions in creating this type of model in terms of copyright or can you point me to something in my area that you might know of? I know that this site is from belfast so it might be an impossible question to answee yet if you can help me in this regard i would appreciate it. Thank you for the amazing work you are doing. I hope to hear from you.

    • Hi Juan. There are no restrictions and no copyrights on the model. Work away! I think in the past (others can correct me if I’m wrong) we have preferred it if other groups choose their own name, but we’re always happy to think of other people doing their thing around the world. The Belfast group hasn’t been active in a while and maybe Pete can advise about other groups doing similar things in other areas, but you could also ask on the Ikon Facebook group page ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/85864980222/?fref=ts ) Good luck!
